New Fire Protection Regulation
On Thursday, June 20, 2019, the TEE event was held to inform engineers about the new Fire Protection Regulation PD 41/2018, with representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Fire Brigade, ELOT, the academic community, scientific and engineering organizations, the construction and materials market, and a large number of engineers.
The new regulation, as emphasized in the conference, was "a memorandum obligation", which was designed to replace the 1988 Regulation, as it was necessary to take into account the design and construction needs of the buildings as they evolved in the 30 years that have passed. In addition, it was necessary to create a modern tool that would be handy for the engineer and would meet his needs.
The primary objective of the Fire Protection of Buildings Regulation is to protect the public in the event of fire, which is generally achieved by appropriate design of the building and its individual spaces, by the installation of active means and systems and by the optimal selection of materials and equipment.
The five main objectives of the new Regulation are as follows:
- Instructions and examples of design specification and selection of passive fire protection systems
- Technical details of the design
- Detailed technical implementation and control instructions for passive fire protection systems, with indicative construction details
- Minimum driver content for receiving installed systems, in accordance with the applicable European Requirement and the new Fire Protection Regulation
- Examples of categorization, with references to the appropriate case-by-system test procedures and an explanation of the required performance and resistance to fire.
As stated by G. Stasinos, the chairman of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the publication of a new TCT for the fire protection of constructions is carried out within the framework of the Technical Chamber of Greece 's State Technical Adviser, with the central aim of each project in the country, to be planned and implemented the best possible conditions at scientific, technical and economic level.
At the same time, it was announced the operation of a relevant blog of the TOTE Fire Protection Constructions Group, so that the interested parties can submit their proposals and also be informed about the developments.
Mr. Andreou Anargyros, General Manager of Andreou GROUP and PSEM President, attended the Technical Chamber of Greece seminar to inform about the new Regulation so as to be the center of technical developments and to contribute to the progress of the insulators industry in terms of standards, standardization, quality and healthy competition.
The event was completed with questions and discussion.
