Insulation of metal roofing

Industrial roofs, as they are made of metal alloys, develop very high temperatures, precisely because the metals are good heat conductors. Particularly in the summer months temperatures can reach extremely high levels, resulting in obstruction of comfortable work.

In addition, consistent and large scale contractions and expansion of materials lead to their aging faster. A characteristic sign of such wear, is that the sensitive points of the sutures or compounds show gradual relaxation and weakening of the coherent forces that keep in harmony with the construction, with consequent inflow of water.

Cool roof

Applying a cold waterproofing system turns the industrial roof into the so-called "Cool Roof" and is a catalyst. On the one hand, it protects the construction materials and, on the other hand, maintains suitable conditions for more comfortable work.

In particular, Cool Roof is defined as a coating system made of special materials with high reflectivity and a high infrared emission factor that help the roofs absorb less heat and remain as much as 35°C cooler than conventional ceilings, of the summer season. This cold coating is a single, non-joining (i.e. non-weakening) film that is fluid-free and highly elastic, keeping the surface waterproof under all temperature conditions following contraction and expansion of the material.

Installation method for Industrial Roof coating with Spray Polyurea

Preliminary work

The surfaces are cleaned and removed by any dirt, dust, oil, etc. Local repairs are carried out, where necessary using a polypropylene woven sheet as reinforcement of the sealing coating. Careful preparation of the substrate is the basis for the successful application of Polyurea.

Primer

A special Primer for metal surfaces is applied to achieve perfect adhesion. The primer cover is 10 m² / ltr. Application is carried out with a spray gun at the appropriate temperature and humidity conditions.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is achieved with two spray coatings of polyurea, specially designed for waterproofing metal roofing.

Remarks

All application methods follow the technical instructions of the materials (humidity, application times, application temperatures etc) to avoid failures and of course be applied by certified insulators.

Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) are one of the determinants of success or failure of the application of polyurea.
