1. Surface preparation:
- Clean the surface thoroughly of dust, dirt, grease or other impurities.
- Any loose materials and older coatings must be carefully removed by appropriate mechanical (scraping) or chemical means (erosives).
- The surfaces must be sufficiently smooth, flat and continuous (i.e. without holes, cracks, etc.). Otherwise, they must be repaired with appropriate repair materials that we will recommend to you depending on the case.
2.Priming:
- Before applying the Bande Adealu or BM-ALU TAPE bitumen tapes , it is recommended to apply the solvent-based bitumen varnish Bitulat Primer , with a brush or roller in one layer.
3.Measurement and cutting:
- Carefully measure the surface where you will place the asphalt strip.
- Cut the asphalt strip to the desired length, leaving a little margin (about 1-2 centimeters) for any errors.
- Use scissors or a utility knife to cut the asphalt strip. Try to cut in a straight line for best results.
4. Application of the asphalt strip:
- Remove the silicone protective paper, starting from one edge.
- Place the bitumen tape on the surface, starting from one edge and gradually pressing towards the other to achieve a strong bond.
- It is recommended to use a pressure roller to avoid air being trapped under the film.
- In case the ambient temperature is <+15°C, heating with a blowtorch is recommended to strengthen the bond.
5.Finish:
- Check the asphalt strip for any imperfections or problems.
- If there is any glue residue, you can remove it with a cloth and a little detergent.
Tips and tricks:
• #andreoyacademy tips: If there is a need to connect two strips, they should overlap by at least 5cm.
• #andreoyacademy tips: If the surface has corners or curves, you can use a blowtorch to soften the bitumen strip and make it fit better.
